Advice

We’re here to cause trouble for the scammers. This page is here to help you fight back against those unscrupulous operators out there, but it’s important to keep in mind that there are legitimate SMS services out there. We’ll help you keep things straight.

Who To Call

Don’t call the carrier

First up, there’s no point calling your carrier. Not only will you have to navigate through their horrible touch-tone phone system only to wait until judgement day to speak to a clueless operator, they won’t really have the power to sort out refunds or get you off the subscription list. You’ll spend a lot more time and effort for substantially lesser results than if you call the aggregator.

DO call the aggregator

The aggregators are the guys who process the SMS messages and handle billing. They usually don’t run the competitions/offers/scams themselves, but act as a technical provider. However one aspect that is usually the case is that they do have the power to both offer refunds and unsubscribe you from marketing.

Fortunately, Vodafone have this excellent shortcode finder tool. Use it to track down the customer care number.

Remember, the aggregators themselves are usually not behind the promotions, so stay calm and polite and they will sort out your complaint quickly.

We will also soon have a shortcode directory on this site for direct access to customer-care details for various companies.
